Established in 2005, The Rising Stars Awards are dedicated to recognizing and celebrating the achievements, leadership, and success of rangatahi age 12 to 24 from Ōpōtiki, the place we all call home.

This remarkable event, hosted by Whakaatu Whanaunga Trust, serves as a platform to showcase the raw talent rooted in the heart of Ōpōtiki. Rising Stars is a compelling initiative that emerged from the community's genuine desire to celebrate young individuals in a positive light, giving them a chance to shine.

In response to a crucial need for highlighting the positive contributions of young people within the community, Rising Stars was created. Ōpōtiki is truly blessed with gifted individuals and groups, and acknowledging their talents not only inspires the youth to strive for greatness but also allows us to witness the emergence of rising stars in our midst.
