The BOP Opotiki Rodeo is back for 2023!

The local committee has been hard at work with our local sponsors to ensure a thrilling day of the best that NZ Rodeo has to offer.

Thursday 28 December, head down to Saint John Street, Opotiki from 9.30am for all the classic rodeo thrills, food stalls, and food trucks for this event supported by local sponsors for the biggest event in Opotiki this summer!

The Ōpōtiki area has a vibrant and colourful history and is believed to have been at the vanguard of rough riding and buck jumping in New Zealand. In the modern era of rodeo, Ōpōtiki is famous for its Christmas Rodeo and thanks to the support of hordes of vacationers and locals, is recognised as home of the “best crowd in the business”.

The Ōpōtiki Rodeo features spectacular horse and Western type events, attracting around 150 competitors. There are amusements, food and drink stands, and clothing and tack (saddlery) for purchase. Check out their Facebook page for further details.

The Ōpōtiki Rodeo grounds are situated at the Northern end of St John Street which is just off State Highways 2 and 35 – there will be direction signs on the day.

Adults 16+ - $20.00

Child (15& Under)  - $10.00

Family (2 Adults + 2Children Under 16) - $50.00

Under 5 - FREE
