Te Waiti Nature Trail is an easy loop that passes through lovely nikau palm and tawa forest. It’s a great family walk, half an hour’s drive from Opotiki, and close to the DoC campsite at the Boulders.

The Nature Trail is close to Te Waiti Hut Track, so both are worth visiting.

> Get there: Take Otara Road south of Opotiki. Turn onto Te Waiti Road. The end of Otara Road and Te Waiti Road are unsealed. Te Waiti road has a stream ford.
