In Te Waiti valley you’ll experience dense, lush lowland forest. It’s a superb destination for picnics and camping. Options include a DOC campsite at the Boulders, DOC’s Te Waiti Hut, and Bushaven.

The Hut Track is close to Te Waiti Nature Trail, so both are worth visiting.

> Get there: Take Otara Road south of Ōpōtiki. Turn onto Te Waiti Road. The end of Otara Road and Te Waiti Road are unsealed. Te Waiti road has a stream ford.
